The 2022 Land Rover Range Rover Evoque-car specifications and price

The 2022 Range Rover Evoque has a design advantage over its subcompact luxury SUV rivals, but its allure is tainted by practical flaws like a small cargo room and cramped rear-seat space. While the inside is well-designed and well-equipped, a number of competitors with smaller rooms provide roomier cabins with similar features.

All-wheel drive is standard, and two turbocharged engines are offered, but the Evoque's handling is less nimble than SUVs like the BMW X1, Mercedes-Benz GLB-class, and Volvo XC40.

Those crossovers, on the other hand, can seem more like pumped-up hatchbacks than SUVs, and the Evoque's off-roading history comes through in the shape of a higher riding position and a solid feel that makes it unquestionably an SUV.

What's new in the car?

A sporty-looking HST R-Dynamic trim has been introduced to the range of choices for 2022. With the HST R-Dynamic, the 296-hp P300 turbocharged four-cylinder engine returns to the Evoque lineup.

The HST R-Dynamic grade adds unique glossy black 20-inch wheels, a black-painted roof, black exterior trim, and red brake calipers in addition to the more powerful powerplant.

Heated seats, a wireless smartphone charging pad, a power-operated rear liftgate, and keyless entry are now standard on all Evoque versions. On the color pallet, Ostuni Pearl White takes the place of Yulong White.

The R-Dynamic SE variant adds a power liftgate, 14-way power-adjustable front seats, automatic high-beam headlights with auto-leveling, LED daytime running lights, and 20-inch wheels to the mid-range model. We'd also pay a little more for the Online Pack alternative package.

Performance, Engine, and Transmission

The Evoque is equipped with a P250 turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine that produces 246 horsepower, as well as a nine-speed automated transmission and all-wheel drive.

The Evoque clocked a 7.1-second zero-to-60-mph time at our test track. Although competitors like the BMW X1 and Volvo XC40 have somewhat faster times, the Land Rover is nevertheless competitively energetic. Only the top-spec HST R-Dynamic gets the more powerful P300 powerplant.

The engine produces 296 horsepower and is aided by a 48-volt hybrid system; the P300 managed a 6.6-second zero-to-60-mph time at our test track.

The Evoque cannot be mistaken for a hatchback car on the road, like the X1 can. It has a robust feel to it, and the seat height is suitable for an SUV; it handles turns well, although not as well as the BMW or Mercedes-Benz GLA-class.

Real-World MPG and Fuel Economy

The Evoque is expected to get 20 mpg in the city and 27 mpg on the highway, according to the EPA. A P250 earned a terrible 24 mpg in our motorway fuel efficiency test at 75 mph.

Cargo, Interior, and Comfort

Unfortunately, the Evoque's imposing external dimensions conceal a cramped interior—especially for those in the back seat.

The Evoque's rear seats feel cramped when compared to rival subcompact SUVs like the X1 and the XC40. The inside materials, on the other hand, are quite beautiful.

The Evoque has textured-cloth upholstery on the seats, door panels, and dashboard as a standard option; leather is still available as an option.. Dual-zone automatic climate control, 10-way power-adjustable front seats, and ambient interior lighting are all included as standard equipment.

Although the cargo space behind the back seat isn't as large as you'd expect from an SUV, it did hold six carry-on luggage in our testing, which is comparable to the segment.

Connectivity and Infotainment

A 10.0-inch infotainment touchscreen with Land Rover's Pivi Pro interface is standard on all Evoque models.

The technology is well-functioning and vastly enhanced over the InControl Touch Pro system seen in previous models, although customers will need to adjust to its eccentricities.

A head-up display, a Wi-Fi hotspot, and a Meridian premium audio system with SiriusXM satellite radio are all optional, as are a head-up display, a Wi-Fi hotspot, and a Meridian premium audio system with SiriusXM satellite radio.

Features for Driver Assistance and Safety

The Evoque comes standard with a number of driver-assistance systems, with more available as optional upgrades.

Visit the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) and Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) websites for more information on the Evoque's crash-test results. The following are important safety features:

  1. Automatic emergency braking with pedestrian and cyclist detection is standard.
  2. Lane-departure warning and lane-keeping assist are standard.
  3. There's also adaptive cruise control with a semi-autonomous driving mode.

Coverage for Warranty and Maintenance

The Range Rover Evoque doesn't stand out in this category with a warranty that barely matches the industry standard. The Lexus NX, which comes with longer powertrain coverage, may be a better choice for those who drive more than the average individual.

  1. A limited warranty of four years or 50,000 miles is included.
  2. The powertrain warranty is good for four years or 50,000 miles.
  3. There is no free planned maintenance.
