The 2022 Aston Martin Vantage-car specifications and price

The primary goal of a sports car is to make the driver feel at ease behind the wheel, and the stunning 2022 Aston Martin Vantage accomplishes this while turning heads wherever it goes. Its sensual design, with a long hood and wide haunches, is classic sports car material, available with a fixed roof or a retractable soft top.

What's inside that clamshell hood is almost as lusty: a Mercedes-AMG twin-turbo V-8 with 500+ horsepower. This raucous engine may be paired with either a manual or automatic transmission, although the former is only available on the standard coupe. Aston Martin now offers a track-tuned F1 Edition with distinct aesthetics, an upgraded chassis, and more horsepower for drivers wishing to harness their inner Sebastian Vettel.

While the inside of the Vantage has some fit-and-finish flaws, as well as unwelcome wind and road noise at highway speeds, the cabin can still be lavishly equipped. Above all, Aston Martin's entry-level machine is a continual source of grins and looks.

What's new in the car?

Aston Martin will release a track-ready F1 Edition in 2022. It has a large back wing and other aerodynamic characteristics, as well as a custom suspension and engine upgrades that boost horsepower from 503 to 528. The Vantage is virtually unaltered from the previous model year, with the exception of the new F1 Edition.

New 21-inch wheel styles are among the minor changes. Accelerate, Create, Impulse, and Inspire are among Aston's new interior design concepts, which the firm refers to as "environments." These various options include various color, feature, and material combinations.

Performance, Engine, and Transmission

A thrilling, roaring twin-turbo 4.0-liter V-8 produced by Mercedes-AMG sits beneath the Vantage's clamshell hood. This engine produces 503 or 528 horsepower and 505 lb-ft of torque, depending on the model. The F1 Edition, which is inspired by the racetrack, has a higher output.

The F1 Edition only comes with an eight-speed automatic transmission, whereas the normal Vantage comes with either a seven-speed manual or an eight-speed automatic transmission. We observed a much sharpened driving experience while driving the F1 on track. Still, the manual transmission on the normal model produces a purer relationship with the powerplant than the autobox, and it also saves 209 pounds in terms of performance.

The V-8 in the Vantage sounds fantastic, with a low baritone rumbling at idle and a high-strung screech as it approaches redline. Standard features include an electronically controlled limited-slip differential and adjustable dampers. The Vantage's handling is energetic but predictable, making it hilariously excellent fun on the racing circuit; the suspension is compliant enough for daily driving, however sharp bumps will be

noticeable to passengers regardless of which drive setting the adaptive dampers are set to. Unfortunately, the optional carbon-ceramic brakes aren't as pleasant to use on a daily basis. While the improved brakes are ideal for track duty, they are too grabby for everyday use.

We did go behind the wheel of the Vantage Roadster and praised its look-at-me demeanor as well as its ability to switch between sports car and lounger mode.

Real-World MPG and Fuel Economy

The Vantage isn't as thirsty for gas as its powerful V-8 engine suggests, at least when equipped with an automatic transmission. According to the EPA, automatic vehicles will get 18 mpg in the city and 24 mpg on the highway.

The manual-transmission models are rated at 14 mpg in the city and 21 mpg on the highway. However, because we haven't driven a Vantage with either transmission on our 75-mph highway fuel-economy route as part of our rigorous testing, we can't assess its real-world mpg.

Cargo, Interior, and Comfort

Inside, the outside drama continues with luxury materials and a plethora of bespoke possibilities. Because Aston Martin offers a full-leather inside, heated and ventilated seats, a carbon-fiber steering wheel, embroidered headrests, and a range of interior trim options, among other things, the Vantage is easy to overspend on.

Although the cockpit is only big enough for two people, it's lined with leather and imitation suede. Sport seats with memory settings and power adjustments are also included. However, inadequate noise isolation on the highway detracts from the luxury experience. Except for a tiny center-console bin and door pockets, inside cubby storage is limited.

The convertible's power-operated cloth roof folds up and down rapidly and has a Z form, according to Aston Martin. Despite having a somewhat smaller trunk than the coupe, the Vantage Roadster is said to be able to hold a full-sized golf bag.

Connectivity and Infotainment

An 8.0-inch monitor protrudes from the dashboard and is controlled mostly via a rotary knob and buttons on the center console.

The Vantage's infotainment system includes an Aston Martin music system, Bluetooth connectivity, and built-in navigation. While an improved audio system and touchpad are available as options, popular technologies like Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are not.

Features for Driver Assistance and Safet

Despite the fact that Aston Martin does not offer a full suite of driver-assistance technology, the Vantage can be equipped with a variety of safety measures. Important safety elements include the following:

  • There is a 360-degree camera system available.
  • Blind-spot monitoring and self-parking assistance are offered.

Coverage for Warranty and Maintenance

While Aston's standard warranty isn't very spectacular, especially given the lack of ongoing maintenance, the business does offer extended coverage plans for a fee.

  1. Three years or unlimited miles are covered by the limited warranty.
  2. Three years or unlimited miles are covered under the powertrain warranty.
  3. There is no free planned maintenance.
